Beginning and End

Recently there have been a lot of thoughts about beginning and end. Sometimes we think it is a beginning but in fact it is an end. Or sometimes it is the other way round. I don't know whether the topic deserves the amount of attention but it puzzles me a lot.

There is an article a plan of the Bush administration, and it is the end of the beginning.

Earlier on, I wrote about the beginning of an end => http://shallwetalk.blogspot.com/2005/02/beginning-of-end.html

What should I say about:
Bird and P?
Someone and his increasingly clever lady
Myself and my job?

THE END OF THE BEGINNING

At the first Senate hearings on President Bush's plans to reform SOCIAL SECURITY, Democrats remained united in their opposition, and even some Republicans expressed doubts. The chairman of the finance committee, Charles Grassley, said he was determined to produce a bill.

The Senate majority leader, Bill Frist, maintained that he was not
interested in making deals with Democrats on Mr Bush's JUDICIAL
NOMINATIONS, which increases the possibility of a protracted fight to change the rules on filibusters.
