The project was claimed to be of the largest scale in China and it successfully pulled 15 buildings... and 2 floors... One building failed to collapse and only the 2 lowest floors were removed (which means the building was "shortened" by 2 floors).
The spokesman said perhaps they didn't put enough explosives on the 3rd floor etc. Another report said that a "lead" (not sure about the technical term) to the explosives installed was destroyed accidentally.
And interestingly enough, some travel agents were smart enough to use this as a attraction and to arrange tours to watch this very moment!!!
Probably the administrations of both HK and PRC sides did very well as the border at huang gang was shut down at that time, and yet there was no report of problem arising from the blocked traffic or people. Well done!
