Chiang Mai (Day 3)

It's the 2nd local tour and it wasn't spectacular. The tour guide wasn't bad but looked not to experienced. The lunch place was very bad, full of flies - catch me if you can! The spots were ok. Relatively speaking Day 1 was much better.

The highest point in Thailand was my first destination. It was foggy and there wasn't much I could see.

In the local tour, there was a 21 years old (or 19?) girl from Belgium. She has spent 4 months in Thailand and travelled to many places, like doing voluntary work and teaching English, etc. She shared an interesting experience. She went to a village by public transport but because of low season, there wasn't any bus going back. She needed to spend a night in the village. Apparently she was having fun with the people there, sleeping with a family of many people in the same room (like grandma, ma & gal, etc.)

The destination after lunch was a garden (or something like a government funded research place). It used to be a place for growing opium but the government claimed the land and paid the people there for gorwing something else.

The waterfall was interesting. Of course, it couldn't be compared with the grand grand ones. My camera got very wet during the visit.

Saw some insects near the waterfall.

The last program was (again) to visit a village. The girl was weaving.

I joined a folk dance show that night and it came with a dinner. The food wasn't particularly special. Lots of fried stuffs like banana, pig skin, chicken etc. It also came with sticky rice which paired with some sauces. Quite intersting combination.

The folk dance show was better than expected. Overall it was a good show and fine dinner of good price/performance.

On the way back to the hotel, I dropped by some stalls near the hotel. A plastic bag of soymilk (I'd say around 300cc) costed me 4 baht (less than 1 HK$)!
