Double Sadness

A lady friend far far away called me on Saturday morning (10/14).  She was crying on the phone, telling me that her mother passed away.  Her mother was robbed and killed, for some stupidly small amount of money.  One of her sisters passed away at around the same time a year ago.

I was quite unprepared and didn't know what to say.  At the same time, I had very mixed feelings as I know my father's wouldn't be too far away, for a different reason.

That's life.
