HSBC appoints climate adviser

The academic who produced a highly influential report on global warming for the Government last year has been appointed by HSBC as a special adviser on the impact of climate change. Sir Nicholas Stern, a former World Bank chief economist, will work part time advising the HSBC chairman, Stephen Green, on economic development in the Third World as well as on the implications of climate change for the bank and its clients. He will retain his current position as professor of economics at the LSE
