IN THE NEWS: Tata Motors pursues both ends of the market

At the Auto Expo in New Delhi today, India's largest auto manufacturer is
expected to fulfill a long-standing promise by unveiling its "People's Car,"
intended to sell for about $2,500. Earlier this month, Tata Motors also emerged
as the leading bidder for Ford Motor's Jaguar and Land Rover lines, thus
revealing its ambitions at both ends of the automotive market. In this
interview from last year, managing director Ravi Kant tells how Tata Motors
transformed itself from a maker of commercial vehicles into a rising global
power in the automotive industry.
