Message from The Vice-Chancellor
Dear Students, Colleagues, Alumni and Friends,
I am sure that you were as shocked and saddened as I was to learn about the great loss of life in the tragic accident that took place in Hong Kong's waters this past Monday.
It is with a heavier heart that I am writing to let you know that it has been confirmed that among those lost are two HKU alumni who are also current postgraduate students of the University. They are:
Mr KOO Man Cheung (古文昌), BEng(ME) 2010, MSc(Eng)(ME)
Mr LEUNG Ka Kit (梁家杰), BEng(ME) 2010, MPhil
Our thoughts are with their families, and those other families who have lost their loved ones in this terrible tragedy.
The University will fly its flags at half-mast on October 4. At 1pm, the Engineering Faculty will hold a tribute with three-minutes of silence at the Eastern Courtyard of the Centennial Campus to pay our respects to Man Cheung, Ka Kit and all the other victims of the accident.
I hope that, wherever you may be at that time, you will join me for this moment of remembrance and reflection.
Sincerely,
Lap-Chee Tsui
Vice-Chancellor
