Important Notice About Your E*TRADE Account
Dear XXXX,
We are writing to let you know that, after careful review, ETRADE Securities (Hong Kong) Limited ("ETRADE Hong Kong") has decided to discontinue its brokerage operations in Hong Kong and give up its Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission licences. As a result, local support for deposits and withdrawals will be discontinued, and the local branch and customer service operations will be shut down. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please log on to your account today to learn more about this change and acknowledge your receipt of this notification. As described below, we will need to restrict accounts for customers who have not provided acknowledgement by 10 March 2016.
Below you will find key dates and instructions to help you transfer or liquidate your assets, if you choose, and close your account(s). We are also providing an overview of what this change means for your rights and protections if you decide to maintain your E*TRADE account(s).
Important Dates to Note:
• 12 February 2016 – Deposits and withdrawals will no longer be supported through local Hong Kong banks or the ETRADE Hong Kong branch. Please be assured, however, that you can continue to deposit and withdraw funds in other ways, including by check or wire.
• 10 March 2016 – The ETRADE Hong Kong branch will cease operations, local customer service will no longer be available, and all local 852 telephone numbers and ETRADE Hong Kong specific email addresses will be discontinued. Also, as of this date, accounts for customers who have not acknowledged receipt of this notification will be restricted until acknowledgement is received. This means that you will no longer be able to make deposits or open new positions, and your unutilized margin purchasing power will no longer be available to you. You will, however, be able to liquidate positions and transfer cash or securities to non-E*TRADE accounts. During account restriction, we will continue to collect any dividends, interest, or other payments on your behalf. You can avoid restriction by logging on to your account and acknowledging receipt of this notice or by transferring your assets and closing your account before 10 March 2016.
Please read on for more information about the options available to you, including transferring, closing, or maintaining your E*TRADE account(s). Regardless of which option you choose, we will waive (through 31 December 2016) any transfer and wire fees normally charged by E*TRADE that are associated with account transfer and closure.
Option 1: Transfer Assets Out of E*TRADE As Is and Close Your Account
Stay in your current positions and ask an alternate financial firm to complete an incoming, in-kind transfer of assets from E*TRADE—and then instruct E*TRADE to wire any cash funds out of your account.
To transfer assets from your E*TRADE account to another firm, please provide instructions to the other firm to submit a "Transfer of Account Request" to E*TRADE at the address shown below. To transfer cash to another firm, simply submit a wire request to E*TRADE at etrade.com/wireouttransfer.

If you do not already have an account at another firm, we encourage you to open an account at a firm of your choice. Any account transfer or wire fees normally charged by E*TRADE will be waived, although the receiving firm may levy its own charges.
Option 2: Liquidate Assets and Close Your Account
Sell all the securities you hold with us and request a wire transfer to close your account.
Once your sale transactions have settled (which can take 3–5 business days), submit a wire request to E*TRADE for your cash balance at etrade.com/wireouttransfer.
Option 3: Acknowledge Receipt of This Notice and Maintain Your E*TRADE Account
Log on to etrade.com to provide acknowledgement and keep your account active.
Once you have acknowledged receipt of this notice and these important changes, your account will not be subject to restriction on 10 March 2016. Please be assured, however, that you can transfer your assets and close your account at any time in the future.
