We work for God, not for a boss, says VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger
Early on in Pat Gelsinger's career at Intel, Andy Grove advised him to make a habit of reading The Wall Street Journal. The founder of Intel obviously felt it might be good for his star engineer to get a grip on business and economics, as well as technology.
Gelsinger began reading the newspaper daily, but at one point in his busy career, he found it was eating into the time he had reserved for reading the Bible. That's when he decided he would never pick up the "businessman's bible" until he had first read "God's bible." This story finds a place in the chapter titled Prioritising God, in Gelsinger's book The Juggling act: bringing balance to your faith, family and work.
