TST

This afternoon I went to TST on some used lens matters with JRPY2. I was
looking for an Nikon AIS 105mm/2.5 and my friend tried to sell his Nikon
AF75-300. I tried one (HK$1,350) on my D80 and then JRPY2's D300. Took a
few shots and wasn't sure if I wanted it or not. The external look
seemed ok and the lenses inside looked clear, with some minor dusts
inside. Anyway, I thought I should have considered more seriously before
spending more. I have been spending a lot in the past 14 months... :)

And JRPY2's lens isn't in good condition. We went to several stores:

Store 1: My friend offered a price (a similar model was selling at
HK$2,700 in Store 2) and the guy considered the gap too huge. He didn't
even want to counter propose. My friend tried different ways but didn't
make it. We reached the conclusion that we should ask more stores. It's
the same store that I tried the 105/2.5 and he was unhappy that I talked
about the minor dusts in the lens, that he considered trivial and
unavoidable for used lens. Well... I believe there's some truth in it.

Store 2 (the big one): The guy took a look and didn't even consider. He
said the mold, even after cleaning, would "dim" the light, etc. So we
just left.

Store 3: They do repair but not trading.

Store 4: The person (seems like an owner) said the demand on the lens
has been low (not sure if it's a tactic). And then we left.

Store 5: Seemed that we saw the owner couple. They offered a few hundred
at current state. And if cleaned they might take it at high hundreds.
They dont have repair business though.

Store 3: We went back to the store. They offered to clean at HK$350. No
guarantee though (which is acceptable).

I told JRPY2 that it's a good call option. Downside is limited.

The next stop was Miramar Shopping Centre. We dropped a sushi store and
found that it offered 50% off from 3pm to 5:30pm. It was 2:55pm and so
we just queued. Price / performance was ok. And then found that JRPY2's
first lady likes japanese too but she was available to join us...

Two of us had 16 plates and it's around HK$180. Would consider to
re-visit the next time.
