It's Monday
Somehow the weekend went past fast, very fast. And it's a busy Monday, as ususal. It's my boss' birthday and I sent him a brief happy birthday e-mail. Then came a longer than expected with client, to prepare for presentation to the board tomorrow. Well... And it's not a good as headache was haunting me.
Tiger didn't offer but he eventually did, to buy me and MM and Mr. Lo a coffee at cova. It's getting expensive, as I mentioned before.
I should have taken Tiger's free ride home, which was supposed to be an "early" one as Tiger had a deadline to meet someone at 8pm, after returning home from office. But he was late. Well... she was late and therefore he was late. And then I was caught by p3 to do some administrative stuffs to prepare for tomorrow.
And then I saw Ming's message about dropping by the office to drop some receipts, and she polled to have dinner together. I countered to meet somewhere in Wanchai or Causewaybay and I could help her to bring back the receipts tomorrow. We ended up meeting at Sorabol at 8:20pm.
Then this came the unexpected. Well... it's not completely true. I knew that her bday is in Dec but I couldn't recall it's so soon. So I offered to treat. We discussed briefly and I warned her that Set C is my favorite (when I have dinner with JRPY) and it's a lot of food, but it gets the dishes I like very much.
So we ordered Set C, and a bottle of Korean white wine (355ml, @20%)... My wishes:
- Happy birthday
- Merry christmas
- Happy new year
- Earn more
- etc. etc. etc.
It's a very very very very very big dinner and I liked it (not sure if she did the same). She wanted to have dessert (ginger milk) next door but we were too full. So we had a random walk in G.O.D. and it's good that there's no bleeding...
We then made a wise decision to skip dessert... :D

中國改假期避免“五一”黃金周混亂

中國修改公眾假期，以避免全國民眾在"五一"黃金周期間出外旅遊所造成的混亂。
中國媒體報道，中國國務院周日（12月16日）正式頒布了修訂後的《全國年節及紀念日放假辦法》從2008年1月1日起實施。
根據有關規定，五一勞動節黃金周的連續三天假期將改為一天，其餘兩天假期分別改為在傳統節日端午節和中秋節放假。
在此之前，端午和中秋節不是法定的公眾假期。
另外，當局也增加了一天假期，民眾將可在農曆清明節的當日休假一天。
農曆春節的三天假期和國慶節三天假期則維持不變。
中國媒體指出，當局曾委托多個官方和非官方新聞網站進行民意調查，62.11%的受訪者支持在清明、端午和中秋節休假，並將五一黃金周改為只放假一 天。
當局也對農民工利用假期回家探親的情況進行調查，發現他們主要集中在春節回家，較少在"五一"和"十一"黃金周期間回家。
增加傳統假期
一名中國官員說，在今年11月進行的調查中，大多數意見認為，將部分重要的傳統節日增設為國家法定假日，將有利於進一步"加強傳統民族文化的傳承和 增強民族凝聚力"。
這名官員也表示，部分民眾反對取消"五一"黃金周，主要是擔心《職工帶薪年休假規定》得不到有效落實，同時，減少現有的長假將影響長途旅遊、探親等 活動，同時導致"十一"和春節假期更加擁擠。
中國政府出台黃金周假期，目的是希望民眾在長假期內增加消費，但由於國民休假過度集中，黃金周也帶來了交通、景區超負荷、服務素質下降等問題，也間 接引致了安全隱患。
此外，中國金融市場在黃金周長假也是全面休市，造成與環球市場脫節，資金可能外流到仍然交易的境外市場。

One Fine Day Earned
The day was originally booked for helping pom's event and she cancelled the "order" last night. I then found that I have a day EARNED... :) Hope pom will share with us some pics later.
It was a late start in the morning. In fact, not sure because of the black coffee at 11pm with JRPY, I couldn't get into sleep easily. Or wasn't it too cold? I just had a brief cover and found it quite cold. I upgraded myself with a blanket and then slept well from 3am to 10:30am.
It was a very great day. The sky was blue and clear. It's cold and yet comfortable. I made a wise and yet unwise choice: cleaning stuffs at home.
The big lunch took me 1 hour to prepare. It was a small lunch in portion but a big lunch in terms of effort. And... I took my risk to finish the expired canned soup (corn & mushroom, i think). The tomattos & onion were fresh from the market though. By the way, the stuffs costed me HK$7 and I asked the lady why she gave a change of HK$43 as I thought I paid HK$20. She then started complaining that I didn't know how much I paid (HK$50) etc. A carrier around said he was more than 50 years ago... etc. (a totally unrelated topic). Quite embarrasing though. But good that I had HK$50 in my pocket instead of HK$20. Now I am HK$30 richer than I thought!!!
Just had a nice chat with my niece in the down under. Sent her some pics taken last night at old nest. And of course, I didn't forget that pa left us exactly 2 months ago. Quite missed him... :)

WTO
I went to Victoria Park at around noon. There weren't too many people and it's still very peaceful.
I left the Wanchai area at around 4:15pm and then I heard that there were conflicts around the spot that I got on the bus.
Hope the situation won't get worse.
