1. Do not take bribes. (NO, never)
2. Do not gossip. (NO)
3. Do not tittle-tattle. (NO)
4. Do not show off. (NO, well... nothing to show off)
5. Only get close to the boss. (NO, not my style nor tactic nor strategy nor practice)
6. Be loyal to your company. (YES, very much, and too much)
7. Be eager to learn. (YES, seems more on personal matters than biz matters, though)
8. Be low-key, even weak. (YES, getting lower and weaker, and arguably becoming a role model... smile)
9. Give your boss the final say. (YES, BY DEFAULT, iff my boss gets the chance)
10. Be respectful to everyone. (YES, absolutely, at heart)
But just like what I heard from an aussie colleague 10 years ago, "you
cannot be a leader if there is no follower". The statement was made
when I had a drink with some aussie colleagues. A colleague
(non-aussie) said it's an invention and oz was a leader in using plastic
money notes. An assuie colleague just made the comment, and we all laughed.
Yesterday, two colleagues were chatting after lunch around my desk and
they somehow said something about "leader". I just made the remark. On
second thought, I hope I didn't confuse them and gave them an impression
that I was talking about them (be it on the leader or th follower
side). But I think the stmt is so true... :)
To all sort of Leaders...
Have fun!!!
