Strange light

Flares have been haunting me for quite a while when taking pics at night
/ low light with bring light source. I have been wondering if it's a
lens problem, a dslr problem, or what. Then recently I found someone
discussing related (not the same) issue in dpreview.

Last night, I was taking some random shots again in YMT and saw the
green lights. I took some experiments and eventually took off the
filter. The strange lights disappeared... More experiments are needed
as I think inconvenient to take off the filter (well... many people
argue that filters are not needed at all, or in most situations). Some
suggested using lens hood (?) or smaller aperture, etc. Will try try.

Here are 2 samples. 1st one ("Killer_...") was with filter and the 2nd
one ("Killer2_...") without. Both taken using my D80, Nikon 35mm/2, B+W
filter.

JRPY2 needed to meet the 1st lady at around 7pm. After saying bye, I
walked from Jordon to YMT along the Temple Street.

There were lots of people eating and waiting for seats at various spots.
I stopped by the small store that I liked very much.

I ate a lot the whole day already and it's the last shot of the day:

柴魚花生豬骨粥 $9

Very nice... Looking forward to my next visit... :)

法國中央銀行行長諾亞重申，法國興業銀行交易員違規買賣期指事件，與次按危機
無關，相關問題已經全部發現。法國央行正調查事件，諾亞表示，法興實力雄厚，
能夠克服今次危機。他又強調，法國銀行體系穩固，毋須擔心。被指令法興損失相
當於560萬港元的交易員，是31歲的克維爾，年薪不足10萬歐元。代表律師說，克
維爾不會潛逃。有分析員認為，法興周末揭發事件後，星期一大舉平倉，此舉進一
步擴大當日歐洲股市跌幅。

違規交易員克維爾02年加入法興

法國興業銀行歷來最大的交易弊案主角，原來是一名年輕的交易員。法興及知情人
士指，31歲的克維爾(Jerome Kerviel)利用對公司風險控管系統的深入認識，多月
來隱瞞自己的違規交易。法興內部人士指，克維爾在巴黎總部的歐洲股票衍生工具
部工作，年薪不到10萬歐元(14.65萬美元)。克維爾於2007及2008年在歐洲股價指
數上違規大手押注，令法興本周於動盪市況下平倉，累計虧損49億歐元(71億美
元)。有關交易弊案上周末曝光，柯維爾隨即與興業銀行的高層面談。法國央行總
裁諾亞在記者會上指，會發生這種事，是因為這位交易員恰好在入行早期即熟知公
司內部控管系統，而且毫無疑問他還是一位電腦高手。克維爾於02年加入法國興業
銀行。在複雜的金融衍生產品中，他負責交易的是最基本的歐洲股價指數期貨。

Southampton vs. Liverpool

It was on 1/22 at Shooters. It was playing an English Premiership game of Southampton vs. Liverpool. Southhampton won 2:0 and they played quite well, as compared with the disappointing performance of Liverpool.

In the picture (by my Canon Powershot S45):

Got a couple of missed calls on Jan 25. Felt quite guilty about the possible worries and concerns arising. This photo was taken on a train, with the number removed.

This is the first post for this new blog. I am still learning to use the goodies.

I do not have the habit of keeping a diary in the past, and so I am not sure how long my interest on the blog will last.

And yet I think Web Log is a simple but interesting idea, which I found amazed when I see the sea of information and manage to find stories that I want to follow.
