Better than webmail

I just sent the following e-mail to some friends. Not sure if anyone
needs it.

(1) Get an e-mail account with POP3 access.

It could be available from your ISP (like netvigator), or specific free
mail services like Yahoo!HK (not Yahoo in the U.S. though), gmail, sina,
etc. I prefer to use gmail as it handles attachments better, when using
webmail. For example, gmail allows to download attachments in one
single zip file but yahoo needs to do it individually, and it's tiring &
time consuming.

(2) Get an e-mail client.

This could be MS Outlook, but it's not free any more on Vista. Of
course, you can download the back release of MS Outlook (say, for XP) so
that you can continue to use it freely on Vista.

But I suggest you try Mozilla Thunderbird =>

You just need to install the mail client (be it Outlook or Thunderbird).

By the way, I recommend people to use Thunderbird as they might want to
dedicate, say, Outlook for business use and a different e-mail client
for personal use.

(3) After installing the mail client, you need to set up your e-mail
account which you need to know

- your e-mail account name
- password
- pop3 & smtp server information

and you need to set it up properly.

Assuming that you use Thunderbird, it will ask you which e-mail service
you use. You just need to pick gmail and it will set up for you. It's
easy.

If you want to do it manually, check with your e-mail service provider
and it will give you instruction on how to do pop access.

(4) Now set and go. You can start using the e-mail service. You can
use say gmail, yahoo!hk, sina, etc. just as if you use lotus notes or
outlook at work. You can download e-mail to your pc and read/write
e-mail in offline mode (while not connected). It's very handy. Of
course, typical security & privacy concerns apply.

(5) What's more...

E-mail clients like outlook & mozilla can support multiple e-mail
accounts (regardless of e-mail service provider). Therefore, it can
give you a handy access to various e-mail accounts you might possibly use.

英國前首相貝理雅改信天主教。他的私人助理證實，貝理雅已經於星期五晚正式皈依天主教。 貝理雅的的妻子和四個子女都是天主教徒，他在1997年當選首相前，全家人經常參加天主教的彌撒。如果他在任期內改變信仰，會影響聖公會和政府之間的關係，貝理雅最終選擇在卸任後成爲天主教徒。　　英國傳媒說，有人擔心，貝理雅擔任首相期間的一些政策，例如對墮胎及同性戀婚姻的態度，可能會引起天主教會內爭議。

我原来一直也一心买 Canon 400D，昨晚无意上网看看关于 400D 的讨论，开始心大心细，不知应否改变主意，转投 Nikon D80，最后决定还是先看才算。

长话短说，今天在中环兴利玩了一会，最后买了 D80 Kit，原因容后再谈。

Innovation that matters

Finally it's up and running.

The prototype was built a week ago. And then today came the last day before a long break. I re-prioritized my work and gave a final touch.

To my surprise, when I did some experiments at the pantry, I found that it wasn't working as expected. I did some investigation and enhanced the solution further.

It was then transferred to production at tiger's place. Again some fine tuning was needed. With tiger's contribution of a xxx strap, it now stands upright and carries out the important duty of automated irrigation, which will keep tiger free from worrying about the plant while taking an extended leave.

Shooters and...?

食完粥后约了酒肉朋友到Shooters吹水，他点了蘑菇汤，LIIT是非常吸引的，但我还是点了杯Iced Tea。在等阿嫂其间谈到很多观点不同的话题，当然是吹水成分居多，谁也说服不了谁。


阿嫂最后姗姗然出现，她选择转战另一地方食晚饭，知道在那里吗？

靠得住

今天晚上游泳后到湾仔食饭，在克街见到一家声称不加味精和用鱼汤作粥底的小店（相对地），菜单挺特别，我点了白鳝球粥（$35）和菜心（$12），味道不错，大家可以试试。

Mask

A few days ago a colleague said my face was very dry and we then talked about facial treatment and mask. She said that my face might be too big for regular mask to cover.

Today W brought me one. I should have tried today in the office... This could be a major event if we got a row of people lying down with masks...
